Bogor Zoology Museum
Bogor Zoology Museum is a museum located to the next of the main entrance of the Bogor Botanical Garden in the city of Bogor, Indonesia.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url= http://www.disparbud.jabarprov.go.id/wisata/dest-det.php?id=396&lang=en#sthash.odSDQAIl.dpuf )〕 The museum and its laboratory was founded on 1894 by government of Dutch East Indies during the colonial era. It contain one of the largest collection of preserved fauna specimen in Southeast Asia.
==History==
Bogor Zoology Museum was founded by Dr. J.C. Koningsberger in August 1894, was originally just a small laboratory at the corner of the Bogor Botanical Garden (formerly known as ''Lands Plantentuin''). The first laboratory was known as ''Landbouw Zoologisch Laboratorium'' (agriculture and zoological laboratory), it focus on insect pests on plants.
Inspired by his visit to Sri Lanka in 1898, J. Koningsberger went to collect Animals specimen for researches with assistance of Dr. Melchior Treub. At the end of August 1901, a building dedicated for zoological museum was finished and it would be known as ''Zoologisch Museum and Wekplaats''. In 1906 the museum and the laboratory was combined and renamed ''Zoologisch Museum en Laboratorium''. The museum is known as its current name after Indonesia officially gained its independence in 1950.
In 1987 the institution known as Zoologicum Bogoriense was renamed Research association and zoology development ''(Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Zoologi)'' which is under ''Pusat Penelitian dan pengembangan biologi'' (Puslitbang Biologi) (institute of research and development of biology).〔(Sejarah ), biologi.lipi.go.id〕 The collection the museum currently had today was only placed in 1997 with grants from the world bank and the Japanese government.
